Nettle Creek Healing Arts

Community folk & culinary herbalism & full spectrum birthwork based on Dakhóta homelands, Minneapolis, Minnesota.

About Me

My name is Sylvia (she/they). I am a folk & culinary herbalist, and full-spectrum doula seeking to connect people with plants as multifaceted medicines & community members in personal, accessible ways.I study clinical herbalism at the Commonwealth Center for Holistic Herbalism. I have learned within the Herbal Remembering School created & facilitated by CherÉ Bergeron, and with many other teachers of folkways, herbalism, magic, and caregiving. I trained as a birth doula with Latham Thomas, and as an abortion doula with the Spiral Collective. I have also worked as an end-of-life caregiver and a community health worker.I’m a kitchen witch, designer , & an extroverted homebody at heart. I love supporting the body through the harmonizing, healing & capacity-building power of good food, and through weaving supportive, sustainable structures into daily living & community spaces wherever possible.I also love to facilitate community herbalism classes as spaces of inquiry & delight where relationships between humans and plants can flourish, and plants can impart their own lessons which run deeper than phytochemistry or botany.I believe in imagination, humor, full-throated expression & storytelling, and education as powers of protection & transmutation; to be cultivated, fed, and respected. I’m a deep & broad thinker & learner with a penchant for spiritual sensitivity, practical creative problem solving, and finding pleasure & meaning in the everyday moments, cycles, & tides of our lives.

Offerings

Pregnancy & Herbalism Services:
I am doing herbal consultations and taking doula clients only on a selective case-by case basis in 2024 due to limited availability in my school schedule. You can inquire below if my offerings resonate with you. I offer a free phone or zoom consult for prospective birthwork clients.
Teaching:
I teach classes each year related to my special areas of interest & expertise including: everyday culinary/ kitchen herbalism, accessible herbalism for chronic illness, herbal allies for trauma & the nervous system, herbalism & holistic support for cycles, herbalism for grief & the heartspace, home first aid, herbal mixology, and more. My Instagram is the best place to hear about my current offerings, which run most often during the blooming & growing months here in Minnesota.
